This is the first of a series of monographs on the care and management, in the laboratory, of different invertebrate groups. The neural and behavioural complexity of the cephalopods is similar to that of the lower vertebrates, and it is felt that their needs and welfare merit similar consideration. This supplement to the UFAW Handbook on the Care and Management of Laboratory Animals covers the basic biology and best husbandry methods which have so far been developed. The different sections also cover breeding, diseases and parasitoses, and laboratory procedures.
